Nyay

This Privacy Policy governs the Nyay mobile application ("Application", "App", "we", "us", or "our"). Nyay is developed and published by The Orbiter and is available on Android and / or iOS platforms.

Nyay serves as a comprehensive, free, and fully offline legal reference tool for Indian law — covering Acts enacted by the Parliament of India as well as legislation passed by State Legislative Assemblies and Union Territory administrations, including all Articles, Sections, Sub-sections, Schedules, Amendments, Rules, Regulations, and Notifications.

Because our Application performs no data collection of any kind, this Privacy Policy is primarily a formal declaration of that fact, published to satisfy app store guidelines and to inform users of our absolute commitment to their privacy.

Nyay is architecturally designed to collect nothing. We explicitly confirm that we do not collect, store, process, transmit, or share any of the following:

2.1 Personal Identifiers

• Full name, username, alias, or handle
• Email address or phone number
• Date of birth, age, gender, or marital status
• Residential or physical address
• Aadhaar number, PAN, Passport, or any government-issued identifier
• Photographs, profile pictures, or any biometric data

2.2 Device & Technical Data

• Device make, model, or hardware identifiers (IMEI, MEID)
• Advertising identifiers (GAID on Android / IDFA on iOS)
• Operating system version or build number
• MAC address, Bluetooth identifiers, or SIM serial number
• Device language, locale, or time zone
• Screen resolution, battery status, or storage capacity

2.3 Location Data

• GPS coordinates or geofencing data
• Wi-Fi SSID or access point information
• IP address or inferred geographic location
• Country, city, state, or postal code

2.4 Usage & Behavioural Data

• Which Acts, Sections, or Articles you read or search
• Search queries typed within the Application
• Bookmarks, notes, or highlights you create
• Session duration, screen time, or frequency of use
• Scroll depth, tap events, or gesture patterns
• Crash reports, error logs, or ANR (Application Not Responding) events

2.5 Network & Communication Data

• HTTP / HTTPS request logs or API call metadata
• Any data passed over the internet at any time

Nyay requests zero device permissions. The table below lists the most common Android and iOS permissions and confirms that none are requested by Nyay:

If a future version introduces any optional permission (e.g., storage access for PDF export), this Policy will be updated before that release and users will be notified through the app stores. All such features will be strictly opt-in with clear prior disclosure.

All content within Nyay is static, read-only legal text compiled from public domain government sources. The Application covers:

All legal texts are sourced from publicly available government publications including India Code (indiacode.nic.in), Ministry of Law & Justice publications, and respective State Government Official Gazettes. No content within Nyay is user-generated or proprietary.

Nyay does not integrate any third-party services, libraries, or SDKs. Specifically, the Application does not use:

• Analytics — Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude
• Advertising networks — AdMob, Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, Unity Ads, ironSource
• Crash reporters — Sentry, Bugsnag, Firebase Crashlytics, Instabug
• Attribution / install-tracking — AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Singular
• Social login providers — Sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter
• Cloud database, remote API, or content delivery network of any kind
• A/B testing or feature-flag platforms — Optimizely, LaunchDarkly
• Customer messaging platforms — Intercom, Zendesk, Freshchat

Nyay is a legal reference application suitable for all ages, including users under the age of 13. Because the Application collects absolutely no data, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting information from minors. No account creation, registration, or personal information of any kind is required to use any feature of Nyay.

Since Nyay does not collect or store any user data — locally or remotely — there is no personal data to secure, breach, or compromise. There is no user database, no server, and no transmission of information to or from your device.

Any content you generate within the app (such as personal notes or bookmarks, if applicable in your version) is stored exclusively on your own device using the device's native local storage mechanisms and is never transmitted anywhere.

Under applicable law — including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and, where applicable, the GDPR — users have various rights regarding their personal data. Since Nyay collects no personal data, these rights do not practically arise, but we acknowledge them in principle:

• Right to Access — to know what data is held about you (none held)
• Right to Correction — to correct inaccurate personal data (not applicable)
• Right to Erasure — to request deletion of your data (not applicable)
• Right to Data Portability — to receive your data in a portable format (not applicable)
• Right to Object — to object to processing of your data (not applicable)
• Right to Withdraw Consent — no consent is sought or required to use the Application

Nyay does not require an internet connection to function. All legal content is bundled within the Application package at the time of download from the app store.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on the app store listing page and, where feasible, within the Application itself. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent revision.

If a future version of Nyay introduces optional features requiring any permission or involving any data collection, this Policy will be updated before such a version is released. All such features will be strictly opt-in with clear prior disclosure. Continued use of the Application after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including:

• The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA)
• The Information Technology Act, 2000 and its amendments
• The IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011
• Any other applicable central or state data privacy legislation of India

Any dispute arising in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in [City, State, India].

Nyay, its developers, and contributors shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or consequence arising from reliance on information presented in the Application.
